After reading that Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon moonlights as a DJ, Orlando, Fl.-based advisor Chris Berning concluded that electronic music was the missing piece of his client-acquisition strategy. Berning, who manages $180 million and cannot name a song released after 1995, has invested $8,000 in equipment and now performs monthly as "DJ Fiduciary." "The next generation isn't in my seminars. They're at the club," said Berning, who last went to a club during the Reagan administration. His debut set, performed to fourteen people at a wine bar during happy hour, opened with ‘The Gambler’ by Kenny Rogers, a track he introduced as "a banger about diversification." Berning reports he has acquired zero clients but describes the initiative as "planting seeds."
