Cincinnati-based advisor Brent Kowalski has formalized a growth strategy centered on doing slightly more than nothing, a plan he describes as “safe and legally acceptable.” Kowalski, who is aware he should be producing original videos, hosting client events, and building a referral engine, has instead opted to send the pre-written newsletter his broker-dealer provides to his clients without any personal touches that might show any sense of personality. “Everybody says ‘You should do videos.’ I know I should do videos, but that takes time and money,” Kowalski told The Fiduciary. His most recent marketing effort, a two-minute clip where he introduced himself and read off his resume and credentials, was described by one viewer as “the color beige, but as a person.” Kowalski reports his practice is growing “a little, I think,” which he considers validation of his approach.
